While many people can’t wait to celebrate Halloween at the end of the month, those born in October will be focused on celebrating their special days. Be sure to make an October baby’s day by gifting them one of their birth flowers.

The Cosmos

The Cosmos flower is commonly planted in gardens and blooms in shades of yellow, orange, purple, pink, and white.

The name Cosmos comes from the Greek word ‘kosmos’, which means harmony and order, referring to the world’s cosmic organisation that symbolises harmony and peace. The cosmos also radiates beauty and harmony in its symmetrical blooms.

In Central America and Brazil, the cosmos flower has roots in traditional medicine as a Malaria treatment. The flower can be compressed into an oil to make use of its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The cosmos flower has also been used in creams dedicated to soothing eczema and it may also work as an antiviral treatment. The colourful petals of the Cosmos can also be used to dye clothing in bright colours.

What does the cosmos say about October babies?

Since the cosmos symbolises peace, order, and harmony, this flower suggests that October babies are poised, patient, and organised. October babies tend not to let the unpredictable, messy nature of life negatively affect them. October babies try to make every day their best and show their loved one's gestures of appreciation.

The Marigold

The marigold is another bright and colourful flower, blooming in shades of orange and yellow. These yellow and orange blooms perfectly capture the autumnal vibe of October.

In the past, marigolds used to symbolise despair and grief over someone close. It was said that the orange and yellow blooms represent the sun that guides the departed. Moreover, it was believed that the sunny tones of the flower reflect the rising sun and its power to resurrect the dead.

However, today the flower’s sunny colours have more positive meanings of optimism and prosperity.

What does the marigold say about October babies?

The bright petals of the marigold suggest that October babies are destined for greatness and will lead successful and long lives. It is believed that those who are protected by the marigold flower are lucky in love. Marigolds are one of autumn’s most sturdy flowers, reflecting the determined nature of those born in October.
